Meet RIF's Panel of Experts:

Jan GreenbergJan Greenberg
Expertise: Early Literacy

Jan Greenberg has over 25 years of experience in the field of education. She has taught children with special needs as well as typically developing infants, toddlers and preschool children. Ms. Greenberg has developed training and technical assistance materials on a variety of early childhood topics for a migrant Head Start grantee, and more recently, worked on early language and literacy training initiatives as a product developer and trainer for Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. Currently, Ms. Greenberg is the Training Manager for Teaching Strategies, Inc., publishers of The Creative Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers, The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, and other early childhood professional development resources.

Cheryl OhlsonCheryl Ohlson
Expertise: Readers with Special Needs

Dr. Cheryl Ohlson is an Adjunct Professor of Special Education at The George Washington University.  She has several years teaching experience in the District of Columbia Public Schools, and has worked in several early childhood programs serving low-income children and their families throughout the city. Her current research and teaching interests include the development of literacy among children from low-income families and children with special needs.

Heather Benson - expertHeather Benson
Expertise: Reluctant Readers

Heather Benson has years of K-7 teaching experience in a variety of educational settings in Japan, Boston, Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia. Ms. Benson received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Boston University and participated in the Chelsea Project which strove to improve local troubled urban schools. She received her M.A. in Early Childhood Special Education and has worked, not only in the classroom setting, but also for educational organizations. Ms. Benson currently produces educational materials and supports training initiatives as Senior Training Specialist at Reading Is Fundamental, Inc.
